Announcing structured rubrics in CodeCollab

We’re thrilled to introduce structured rubrics in CodeCollab, our latest feature designed to bring consistency, clarity, and objectivity to your technical interviews. With structured rubrics, interviewers can now assess candidates in Byteboard’s collaborative live coding platform using predefined, behaviorally-anchored criteria, ensuring a fair and transparent evaluation process.

Why Rubrics Matter

Rubrics are essential in creating a standardized framework for assessing candidates' skills. They help reduce bias by focusing on specific behaviors and outcomes, making it easier to provide clear and actionable feedback. With rubrics, interviewers can consistently measure a candidate's technical abilities, problem-solving skills, and overall fit for the role, leading to more informed and equitable hiring decisions.

How It Works

In CodeCollab, structured rubrics are available for interviews that follow up on CoreEval assessments as well as for custom interviews. For CoreEval continuations, rubrics are automatically generated to align with the skills evaluated in the initial assessment. For custom interviews, you can configure rubrics based on the specific skills you want to assess. The platform will compile a tailored list of questions and present them to interviewers as a rubric, visible during and after the interview.

This feature leverages a behaviorally-anchored grading methodology, providing the most effective evaluation while minimizing bias. The results, along with interviewer feedback, are recorded on the candidate’s report page, with skill ratings on a consistent 3-point scale of Proficient, Partially Proficient, and Not Proficient.
